Exploring Stone Age Luton, looking over an Iron Age landscape. Come and experience Neolithic farming terraces, the site of a huge wooden henge and burial mounds dating back to 3500BC. View in the distance the druid settlements of Sharpenhoe Clappers and Ravensburg Castle, the largest Iron Age fort in eastern England. Drinks in Round in the Bush after the walk.

Arlesey & Henlow station CP

A leisurely and relatively flat route of sround 8 miles from Arlesey station along the river Hiz, through Henlow and the nearby countryside, skirting the edges of Clifton and Langford. This walk is hosted by Stag Walkers, a Ramblers Group aimed maily at people in their 20s, 30s and slightly older, offering led walks and social events across Herts, Beds and south Cambs. Please bring a packed lunch/snacks and drinks, appropriate clothing for the conditions and optionally a basic first aid kit. Meet at Arlesey & Henlow station CP, SG16 6DD. This is a large CP to the west of the railway line on the other side of the stauion from Arlesey village. From the village you will need to walk through the staion, up the steps and over the bridge to the other side. Parking £3.30, Accessible by train (Kings Cross/Peterborough line). Booking is not necessary for this walk but we do find it helpful to know who's coming so please consider using our Meetup group to book your place on the walk: https://www.meetup.com/stagwalkers/ If you have to cancel please update your RSVP so we know not to wait for you. Ampthill has the unusual distinction of once having had two members of the nobility living very closely together in individual grand houses. This walk visits both houses, and tells their stories, from who they were built for and also one of the houses' demise. Not surprisingly, having two egotistical noblemen in such close proximity caused a certain amount of friction! This walk will take about 2.5 hours
